What the heck is a Hypercharger??

Sometime last year, I picked up a Hypercharger for my bike. Sounds pretty crazy, right? Well, it's actually just a replacement air filter cover and comes with a K&N air filter.

The exact name of this one is the Thunder Air Kit - I got it from Oneida Suzuki, where I get most of my stuff from. To be blunt, this is what it does:

  • allows more air into the engine;
  • K&N air filters are some of the best;
  • allows more air in depending on how much throttle is given;
  • supposidly increases horsepower by as much as 5%;
  • it just looks cool, that's about the gist of it.

I had a hell of a time finding instructions on how to install the thing. How does one piece of paper, double sided, and with no pictures sound to you? Yeah, that's what it came with. Turns out the interweb offered some better instructions. And I give those to you here. If you ever get one, you'll need to remember that you need to get the hypercharger and some conversion kit, too. This kit allows you to install the hypercharger because some fittings are a little different.

To tell you the truth, it does feel like I have a little more horses, but it could be because I want to think that.

If you've got any questions about this, let me know.
